Kudos from our client on Instagram

Kudos from our client Danielle + Derek on Instagram today:

"4 years ago today, Derek and I got married in the backyard of a historic house in Oahu, just feet away from the ocean. We had 22 guests, an acoustic guitarist, and two photographers we liked so much we flew them from LA to be there. It was the most relaxed wedding I have ever been to, and without a doubt, the happiest day of my life. Happy Anniversary, my love :-) (Photo by the incomparable @stevenlamphotography)"

This is the reason why we love photographing weddings. It's not just a job. We love what we do because we know years from now, our wedding couples will have a blast looking back at their beautiful and timeless moments we've help captured on their wedding day.

Happy Anniversary to the sweetest couple Danielle + Derek. Mahalo.

P.S. Danielle is also an amazing embroider. Click here to see her what she did for her wedding album cover.

Steven Lam Photography Featured on The Bride Counsel

We are so honored to be featured on

The Bride Counsel

blog page today. We met Patricia Sohn a few months back when she stopped by our studio to interview us and to see more of our work. We had a great time talking about photography and the wedding business. More importantly, we've became friends which is always lovely when that happens. Patricia dug deep during her interview about our studio's work and we are so happy that she is so generous to share her findings about our studio to the world. Picture Perfect Events 2012 Website Launch

We are so excited to help spread the word of Picture Perfect Events new website launch. Kelley Gin of PPE worked with her fabulous designer Tianyi Wang Goudey of Tiselle Letterpress + Design along with her team Christen and Jesse Cutrona. As a fan of graphic design, it was sheer joy to see the website's new design aesthetics laid out so gorgeously with so much attention to detail. Totally made our day! It felt like a scene from Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory (1971 original version of course) when we were all gently gliding down the chocolate stream inside the factory and feeling so much emotion, love, joy, and happiness... moments like this can be experienced by all of Kelley's event. And landing on PPE's new website design gave me that same experience, I was like a kid in a candy store. I couldn't wait to get to the next page and wanted to click on every button to see what's behind it. We love the gold hues with the elegant crisp line element complimenting the modern typeface while juxtaposed with the script lettering so delicately. The delicate and simplicity of the design approach is confident and humble echoing Kelley's less is more philosophy gracefully. All of the design and photo coexist harmoniously within it's content like a soft beautiful dance between two ballet dancers being in love. PPE's website never had to prove it's strength, but the presence of Kelley's exquisite design aesthetic is always present throughout the website. What makes this website amazing is the fact that Kelley has managed to help transform and evoke that same excitement that a guest would feel at any of her events, and she sure made it happen with a big wow factor. Congratulations Kelley and wishing you continued success. Your endless hours of attention put toward this website has finally came into fruition. We are so blessed and humble to be a part of your photography team.

Jill Scott, Bring it On!

This month, our studio has been running at full steam creatively. By the look of things, it's probably not going to slow down anytime soon. We started the month with the release of YWD Magazine Fall/Winter 2011 issue hitting the news stand featuring our photography of these wildly creative out of the box wedding bouquet design ideas. Next up, we photographed a wedding on a yacht then flew over to Cabo, Mexico for a magical destination wedding.

Then I got a phone call from Hidden Beach Recordings telling me that they are releasing a new Jill Scott CD titled "from the vault". The CD will be featuring tracks that was previously recorded for her debut album but did not make it to the original release. I am sure this CD will be filled with gems. We were ecstatic to find out our iconic archived images of Jill Scott will also be accompanying this release...woot woot!

I remember back in 2000, when I was handed an advanced copy of "Words and Sounds Vol. 1" from Hidden Beach after our initial creative brief. I became an instant fan after listening to the intro track and was totally hypnotized by her beautiful and effortless vocals on "Gettin' in the Way", "A Long Walk" and "Brotha".

Being such a huge fan of Jill Scott music, I am honored to have the chance to meet and photographed miss Jill Scott for her first album "Who is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1". During the production of the photo shoot, I spend the whole prep day touring and location scouting the streets of Philly with Jill (which was alot of fun). We even visit her family in the neighborhood. When the album dropped, it hit double platinum and earned several Grammy nominations and eventually winning a Grammy Award for best urban/alternative performance.

With so much excitement and activities in and out of the studio, we are ready for many more blessing coming our way now. Bring it on!

Cabo Magical Wedding

This past weekend San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, a typically hot location got hotter than ever with Michelle and Richard's destination wedding. These two brought their New York chic aesthetic and sprinkled it all over Cabo starting with three stunning private modern villas as the main ingredient to their celebration. The pool side wedding ceremony was breath taking with the Pacific Ocean serving as the backdrop. At the reception, guests welcomed the newlyweds with sparklers as the couple took the dance floor for their first dance. The night ended on a high note with endless dancing under the stars. making this fabulous event memorable and magical.

YWD Out Of The Box Bouquets photograph by Steven Lam

Yeah, YWD Fall/Winter 2011 issue is finally hitting the news stand this month. We had a great time shooting this beautiful story for Your Wedding Day magazine back in June with creative director Cathryn Vanbreene and Stylist Krista Jon at Seven-Degrees in Laguna Beach. We want to share these stunning non-floral fresh idea bouquet designs with brides to be. This is an amazing collection of unique bouquets showcasing so many wonderful concepts from vintage items to feathers and gemstones to seashells. We also have added additional out take detail photos featuring each bouquet to show the intricacies of these labors of true love. There were too many great photographs and we wanted to share it all with you. Lastly, we want to give a special thank you to Thea Hargrove, publisher of YWD for inviting us to be a part of the contributing team for this issue. We hope you will find these alternative modern bridal bouquet inspiring.

For more info, visit YWD Blog about this story and pick up a copy of YWD fall/winter 2011 for complete details.

Enjoy.
